Earthy Stoneware
Low Geode Bowl. Our hand-thrown Geode Bowls are a rustic yet modern creation. They have a striated texture on the outside called chattering, a nifty technique that is created by the potter's tool rhythmically bouncing on the surface of the bowl. The interiors are glazed in bright white or a surprising pop of color. The outside is finished with a metallic oxide.
This piece is hand thrown by the skilled artisans at our main workshop in Peru. Jonathan makes the prototype in our Soho studio and then we send the model to our Peruvian workshop. The potters then create these pieces on the potter's wheel to our specifications. Our Peruvian workshop was found through Aid to Artisans, a non-profit organization that connects designers in America with artisans in developing countries to promote fair trade.
